Hi lovelies,
The photo is kind of ironic for me, since this is the first jewelry piece for A Kiwi Creates that I have ever made. Designed by myself and pretty proud of it, still. The first ever Etsy product listing that went online. And Yet I have decided something…
Etsy has come to an end point for me. It’s not do-able for me anymore.
I have a small selection of unique abalone jewelry that I sell and I will never make things in bulk, simply because I can’t, every piece is unique! Hence why I chose Etsy in the first place. All those years ago I chose Etsy because I am an small business owner, an OG Etsy person. Meaning I really own a small business and I make everything and do everything myself. From creating jewelry to selling and promoting.
It’s sad to say but I think most people pump more money into Etsy then Etsy really gives back to their users. And praises big corporate businesses because they produce things in bulk and sell a huge amount quickly. Ok, what’s the fun of that right? And now with the star seller aspect, I’m getting no where at all. Making my shop stand out amongst all of that, is just not do-able anymore.
Don’t get me wrong I will still be selling my jewelry at markets and I think I will shoot my shot with Vinted and Instagram. And who knows, maybe I’ll give Etsy another try at some point. But for now this is not the way to go, for me atleast. That is why I am moving on from Etsy. Sorry girl, I’m breaking up with yah. It sucks but like every relationship taking care of each other comes and goes from both sides.
Cheers, Rachel. The kiwi in question.
